CropLife Europe position on EFSA Indirect Effects Framework

Description

This position paper explains our position on EFSA’s proposed Framework for assessing the indirect effects of plant protection products on biodiversity. The proposed Framework is disconnected from the practical realities of farming. To address this, CropLife Europe recommends that the Framework should: address the regulatory inconsistency in the European Commission mandate; recognize the nature of farming; propose an integrated legislative approach to biodiversity protection; take into consideration the benefits of plant protection products’ use; and integrate natural recovery mechanisms.
