In the interest of accuracy and transparency, we are publishing the full response provided to journalist of Humanité regarding the Food and Feed Safety Omnibus and the related Corporate Europe Observatory Report regarding our activities.
CropLife Europe contributes expertise and policy recommendations to EU legislative
discussions, as do many other stakeholders, including farmers, researchers and civil society organisations.
Our position on the Food and Feed Safety Omnibus is clear: Europe needs regulatory procedures that maintain high standards of protection for human health and the environment, while addressing the regulatory bottlenecks that are limiting farmers’ access to essential crop protection solutions. This means ensuring that regulatory decisions are workable in practice while maintaining the necessary safety safeguards.
We strongly support EFSA’s independence and the importance of science-based decision-making. Stakeholder expertise can help ensure that regulatory requirements are understood and workable in practice, without compromising scientific independence, transparency, or safeguards against conflicts of interest.
