The Future of Farming: Smart Agriculture in a Competitive World – Brussels 28.04.2016

The Pro Agriculture and Food launch event “The Future of Farming: Smart Agriculture in a Competitive World” takes place on Thursday, April 28, at the Residence Palace in Brussels and is presented by the European Crop Protection Association (ECPA).

European agriculture is facing a range of challenges. Global food demand is forecast to increase as the world’s population continues to rise. Agricultural production is facing environmental constraints such as water shortages and soil erosion. Farmers are having to cope with the bureaucratic burden of complying with rules on environmental standards and animal welfare while prices for many products are at historic lows. New technologies and methods offer the prospect of boosting productivity and boosting margins.

Join Phil Hogan, European Commissioner for Agriculture & Rural Development, and POLITICO’s editorial team to discuss how European farming will cope with the challenges of low prices, climate change and the need for innovation with leading representatives of farmers, food companies and environmental campaign groups.
