Webinar 3 – Future of regulatory and scientific assessment
of the farmer toolbox – the “key-ASCs” approach
Format: Online Workshop || Duration: approx 6h (with coffee and lunch breaks)
Date: 4 November 2025 || Time: 9:30 to 15:30
This online workshop aims to introduce a new proposal for tiered safety assessment of agrochemicals, integrating agronomic aspects (the Key Agronomic and Safety Characteristics (Key-ASCs) framework). Inspired by global initiatives (e.g. HESI TEA), the approach emphasizes problem formulation; tied to highly–protective, goal– oriented assessments, less reliance on animal testing to serve future technologies,
ultimately aiming to support EU food security. Regulatory experts will be welcomed in a collaborative environment to brainstorm, discuss, and strategize. Together, we will enrich the concept, identify gaps, uncertainties, barriers, and determine potential next steps for how these could be addressed.

Webinar 5 – Assessing the acceptability of pesticide environmental risks in the context of the agricultural system in which they are used
Format: Live Webinar || Duration: TBC
Date: TBC || Time: TBC
This webinar aims to discuss the future of pesticide ecotoxicological assessment. With the recent European Commission mandates to EFSA to update the Terrestrial Ecotoxicology Guidance (SANCO/10329/2022) and develop a new Guidance to assess potential indirect effects on biodiversity, a fundamental discussion on the future of pesticide ecotoxicological assessment is warranted. The possibility of an increased precautionary approach could lead to significant challenges in how to risk assess and set specific protection goals for in-crop effects, in particular for non-target arthropods, as well as how to assess and set protection goals for indirect effects on biodiversity, for both non-target arthropods, non-target terrestrial plants, and soil organisms.
