The European Commission’s new Strategic Approach to Research and Innovation rightly recognises digitalisation, AI and robotics as priorities for a competitive, resilient and sustainable European agriculture. CropLife Europe members have committed to invest €10 billion in precision and digital technologies by 2030. The priority now must be turning innovation into practical tools that farmers can use at scale. The forthcoming EU Digital Strategy for Agriculture is an important opportunity to create the enabling framework, infrastructure and skills needed to accelerate their uptake across Europe.
